The 2013 BuildSouth Construction Awards deemed S&S Sprinkler the best “New Specialty Contractor” for their work in  ThyssenKrupp Steel’s Administration Building.

The BuildSouth Award describes S&S Sprinkler’s project: “The goal of this 2011 project was to design and install all the fire protection needs at the ThyssenKrupp Steel, LLC Administration Building. A wet-pipe sprinkler system, a turnkey fire alarm system, and multiple clean-agent suppression systems were installed throughout the 78,000-square-foot complex. As part of the emphasis on safety, all cutting oil used in the threading of pipe was captured in a reserve tank. This allowed recycling of the oil and prevented spills on the job site. In an effort to control costs, the new fire protection system was designed to use the current fire suppression cylinders from the temporary administration building. S&S also installed a state-of-the-art access system that provides control of the administration complex while giving employees a safe place to work. The design of this project offered the client cost savings and the very best product possible.”

S&S won the award based on this criteria:

  • Meeting the challenge of a difficult job
  • Excellence in project management
  • Innovation in construction techniques or materials
  • State-of-the-art advancement
  • Sensitivity to environment and surroundings
  • Contractors contribution to the community

Here at S&S we are honored to have received this award. We’re proud of our business techniques that integrate safe work practices and economic solutions; and we’re so happy to have Mobile businesses support our work.
